New found Pakistani beauties: Nosheen Idrees all set to take Pakistan to Miss Earth 2008

Miss Earth started off in 2001 and has now entered its seventh year of introducing an environment healthy beauty pageant. Now, what's an environment friendly pageant? Apparently Miss Earth is giving a new meaning to beauty pageants by promoting a clean and healthy environment. This year Nosheen Idrees - a 22 year old girl from Jhelum, Pakistan, will be representing Pakistan in the Miss Earth pageant.

Nosheen was crowned the third runner up for the Miss Pakistan World pageant in May 2008 and is the first to represent Pakistan in Philippines for the Miss Earth pageant.

It's not just an 'ordinary' beauty contest but has something more attached to it. The main purpose of the Miss Earth pageant is to urge the candidates and winners to actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of the world.
So who is Nosheen? She is a student of communications at the University of Sheffield, UK and hopes to bring back a title that can put Pakistan on the map as a country that has the most beautiful women in the world. According to sources, Nosheen says, "Pakistan is a country where the most beautiful women exist and it's a shame that it's not recognised for it."
Nosheen is set to change the perception of how the world looks at Pakistan and hopes to be able to spread the message of peace for her country and be a great ambassador for the youth. Considering she's spent all her life in the UK, we can only imagine how perfect she will be in representing our country.

But there is one thing for sure… Pakistan is being represented by these Pakistani origin pardesi girls in different international beauty pageants; whether we like it or not! Natasha Paracha, the winner of Miss Pakistan World 2008 is busy with her shoots, while the fourth runner up of the same pageant is all set to participate in the World Miss University 2008 pageant in China.
Sonia Ahmed, President of Miss Pakistan World, made a statement recently saying that Pakistan has reached 20 international pageants in just five years time and that the main mission is to continue with the effort to get Pakistan recognised as the country with the most talented and beautiful women in the world.

But, how many of us have really heard about any of these pageants or, more importantly, how many of the participating girls have even been to Pakistan? That's a question to ponder about!
